 Category 0: 0-20% absorption or 80-100% translucent. Lets much or all of the light through. Protects against cold, wind and insects.
 Category 1: 20-57% absorption or 43-80% translucency. Contrast enhancing lens. Suitable for cloudy weather and dusk.
 Category 2: 57-82% absorption or 18-43% translucent. Contrast enhancing lens. Filters out more light than Category 1. Suitable for clear days.
 Category 3: 82-92% absorption or 8-18% translucency. Widely used in all kinds of sports and activities in the bright sun.
 Category 4: 92-97% absorption or 3-8% translucent. So-called glacier or high mountain glasses. Disadvantages: very dark, deprives depth perception to some extent.
